BROOKINGS — Peace Lutheran School in Brookings raised over $600 for the Foster Closet of Brookings.

The Foster Closet is a fairly new charity in Brookings which provides clothes and other necessities for children who have been placed in the foster care system. The children at Peace raised money so that the Foster Closet could buy specific sizes of clothes for those who are now in foster care. The students also collected stuffed animals for the comfort of the children who are now in a new place.

Peace Lutheran School is a combination of early childhood education (infants-junior kindergarten) as well as an elementary school, which goes from kindergarten through third grade. The elementary school is state-certified. The school is in the process of adding additional grades.

The money raised was a part of Peace Lutheran School’s celebration for national Lutheran School Week. Peace is one of 1,200 early childhood centers and 900 elementary schools in this country.
