BROOKINGS – For exemplary service in support of public education the SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program was honored by Associated School Boards of South Dakota with the School Bell Award.

The ASBSD School Bell Award honors individuals or organizations who have served South Dakota public education in an exemplary fashion.

SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program works across the state with partnerships and coalitions by combining the strength of local programming in cooperation with 4-H programs. 4-H values diversity and an inclusive environment for all youth, recognizes every child’s individuality and uniqueness, and works through caring adults who volunteer to work with, mentor, and teach our youth.

SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program recognizes the youth of today are our future leaders and what they learn and experience in 4-H will help them develop into contributing citizens who will give back to their communities in the future.

“The SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program has enriched the lives of a countless number of students across South Dakota,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “Their efforts to enhance the experiences of so many kids is very admirable and we’re pleased to recognize them for their efforts.”

ASBSD is a private, nonprofit association representing more than 850 South Dakota school board members, the 149 school districts they govern and the students they serve.
