SDSU’s Tyler Seeling fires career best in final round

LINCOLN, Neb. — The South Dakota State men’s golf team finished in sixth place at the Git-R-Done Invitational hosted by Nebraska Tuesday at Firethorn Golf Club.

The Jackrabbits moved up one sport on the leaderboard from Monday’s placing after 36 holes. They were even-par as a team for the final lap and overall finished with a +8 scorecard. Sam Houston State tallied a -22 to win the team title.

SDSU was led by Ty Kretz, who finished in a tie for 14th place. He was even-par over 54 holes and wrapped the tournament with a +3 final 18 holes Bryson Mercier was one shot behind Kretz and tied for 16th place.

Tyler Seeling shot up 22 spots on the leaderboard to 29th place following Tuesday’s round. He fired a blistering 66 (-5) over the final 18 holes, the best single-round of his career, and ended up +4 overall.

Blake Schaper finished 35th, up nine spots from his Monday placing. He was also +1 on the final round and was +7 overall. Drew Teeter rounded out the Jackrabbit lineup in 62nd place with a +19 tally.

Sam Houston State’s Hugo Trommetter completed the event with an 11-under tally to earn medalist honors.
