SIOUX FALLS — South Dakota State middle blockers Sydni Schetnan and Madison Burr were named Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday.

The duo helped the Jackrabbits go 3-0 at the Jackrabbit Invitational this past weekend and improve to 11-0 on the season.

Schetnan earned the co-offensive award, which she shares with South Dakota setter Avery Van Hook. She was named MVP of the Jackrabbit Invitational, where she totaled 30 kills, 14 blocks and a blistering .491 hitting percentage.

The Sioux Falls native recorded back-to-back matches with double digit kills. Schetnan garnered 10 kills with a .556 hitting percentage and was responsible for 10 points in a three-set victory over Idaho State.

The Jackrabbit redshirt junior then registered 12 kills, nine total blocks, and a .435 hitting percentage in a five-set victory over Toledo. The final match of the weekend against Belmont saw Schetnan produce eight kills, five total blocks, and a .500 hitting percentage.

Burr, who garnered the weekly defensive accolade, recorded 20 blocks in three matches during a 3-0 weekend for the Jackrabbits. The Goodhue, Minnesota, native currently ranks thirteenth in Division I with 59 total blocks on the season. She led the Jackrabbits with 1.82 blocks per set last week and her season average of 1.48 blocks per set places her 13th among DI players.

The Jackrabbit freshman recorded six kills and three total blocks during South Dakota State’s battle with Idaho State, while also hitting at a .231 clip. During the second match of the weekend against Toledo, she improved upon those numbers, garnering 10 kills, 10 total blocks and hitting .409.

The final challenge of the weekend came against Belmont where Burr produced two kills with seven blocks in a three-set victory.
