MADISON, Wis. — South Dakota State senior Ty Kretz finished in a tie for 17th place at the Badger Invitational on Tuesday, leading the Jacks to a t-10th-place team finish at University Ridge Golf Course.
Kretz, a Marinette, Wisconsin native, fired an even-par 72 for the final 18 holes. He turned in a 217 (+1) final scorecard. He has been the top finisher for the Jackrabbits in all three events this season.
Freshman Jake Olson was the next best Jackrabbit this week. He tied for 53rd place overall with a 226 (+10) over three rounds.
Bryson Mercier and Blake Schaper tied for 63rd place with matching 228 (+12) tallies. They each tallied a 76 (+4) on Tuesday’s round. Tyler Seeling rounded out the Jacks in a tie for 69th on the final leaderboard (230, +14).
Washington State’s Sam Renner was the individual medalist as the Cougar posted a 9-under-par final tally. Northern Illinois won the team competition with an 855 (-9).
The Jackrabbits’ season continues at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Oct. 7-8 in Fairfax, California.
