TEA – Sioux Valley’s Lane VanderWal was runner-up in the triple jump on the opening day of the Class A State Boys’ Track and Field Meet on Friday at Tea Area High School.

VanderWal runner-up in Class A triple jump

TEA – Sioux Valley’s Lane VanderWal was runner-up in the triple jump on the opening day of the Class A State Boys’ Track and Field Meet on Friday at Tea Area High School.

The junior posted a mark of 42 feet, 7 1/2 inches. Milbank’s Bennett Schwenn won at 43-8 1/2.

VanderWal ended up 12th in the long jump (19-3) earlier in the day.

Chamberlain’s Nash Hutmacher swept the throws, winning the shot put with a heave of 54-1 and the discus at 148-3.

Lennox (33) tops the team leaderboard and Elk Point-Jefferson and St. Thomas More are tied for second with 27 points.

The meet concludes today at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
