BROOKINGS – Bobcats outside hitter Sydney Bebensee was named to the All-Eastern South Dakota Conference Team which was announced on Tuesday morning.

Bebensee recorded 230 kills, 253 digs, 25 blocks and 48 aces during her senior year to help the Bobcats go 14-18 and win the Rapid City Volleyball Invitational last September and go 4-1 at the Harrisburg East/West Tournament on Oct. 20 and 21.

“Sydney stepped up this year as a six rotation outside [hitter] for our team,” Brookings head coach Erinn Thomas said. “I am most proud of her growth as a consistent passer in serve receive, the effectiveness of her serve and the shot selection as an attacker. As an undersized hitter, Sydney used a lot of different shots in her toolbox to score offensively this season. At the service line, she provided spark and momentum with her jump float serve and led our team in aces. Her competitiveness in practice and in matches will be missed next year.”

Harrisburg led all-conference teams with three selections on this year’s team including junior Maggie Meister, sophomore Gabi Zachariasen and eighth-grader Jasalyn Samuels.

Brandon Valley and Watertown also had two selections each on this year’s team. Senior Carter Jurrens and junior Emily Thury made the cut for the Arrows while senior Sydney Benson and sophomore Jayaunna Stroh were selected for the Lynx. Watertown senior Miranda Falconer was also named an honorable mention.

The remaining members of this year’s team included Aberdeen Central senior Grace Kuch, Huron senior Hamtyn Heinz, Pierre senior Reese Terwilliger and Yankton senior Macy Drotzmann.
