Bobcats compete at ESD Tournament

WATERTOWN — The Brookings girls’ tennis team competed in the Eastern South Dakota conference Tournament in Watertown on Monday afternoon.

The Bobcats saw some success in the doubles portion of the tournament. Sophie Tanner and Annika Hooda beat Pierre’s Ella Fisk and Bailey Jessen 10-3 in the play-in game of the first doubles flight. Hooda and Tanner play Sabrina and Nora Krajewski on Tuesday.

In the second doubles flight, Pierre’s Breanna Tedrow and Amara Dell beat Brookings’ Yuki Zhu and Lada Senchanka 10-8. The Bobcats’ Maya Gent and Alison Glover were beat by Yankton’s Karalyn Koerner and Meagan Scott.

Sophie Tanner competed in the Flight 1 Tournament and took on Watertown’s Ellie Zink in the first match. She fell to Zink 10-0 and is now in the consolation bracket. Anika Hooda was in the play-in match in the Flight 2 Tournament and she lost 10-8 to Pierre’s Breanna Tedrow.

Yuki Zhu was in the play-in match in Flight 3 and she lost to Pierre Elise Bowers 10-8. Lada Senchanka was in the play-in match in Flight 4 and lost to Amara Dell 10-9. Senchanka lost the final set 7-5.

Alison Glover was in the play-in match in Flight 5 and lost to Brandon Valley’s Harper Beatch 10-1. In the play-in match in Flight 6 Brookings’ Maya Gent fell to Yankton’s Meagan Scott 10-2.
