MILBANK — The Sioux Valley boys’ golf team had three golfers qualify for the state tournament on Monday afternoon at the Region 1A Golf Tournament in Milbank.
The Cossacks shot a 359 as a team. Tate Steffensen was the top finisher for the Cossacks and he tied for fourth after shooting an 84. Damon Uecker and Jameson Degan finished in ninth (87) and 10th (88), respectively. Maverick Nelson came in 24th (100) and Nathan Larson tied for 29th (106).
Aberdeen Roncalli won the region tournament as the Cavaliers shot a 348. Groton Area came in second (355) and Milbank finished in fourth (359). Madison rounded out the top five (373).
Groton’s Brevin Fliehs won the individual tournament with a score of 79. Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer came in second (81) and Aberdeen Roncalli’s Lucas Daggett came in third (83). Roncalli’s Finn Anderson was the one that tied with Steffensen for fourth.
The state tournament is Oct. 7-8 at Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford.
