ARLINGTON — Flandreau runner Faith Wiese and Elkton-Lake Benton runner Nate Timm took home first place as six area teams competed at the Arlington Cross Country Invitational on Monday afternoon.
The Fliers finished in first place at the invitational, finishing with 10 points. Arlington finished in second place with 15 points while Dell Rapid St. Mary’s (36), Baltic (39) and Howard (47) rounded out the top five.
Wiese finished in first place with a time of 19:01.38. Calla Wiese finished in third place with a time of 21:55.43, Kiley Westberry finished in sixth place with a time of 22:16.23, Josie Hamilton finished ninth with a time of 22:36.17 and Tenly LeBrun finished 10th with a time of 22:38.29 to put five fliers in the top ten of the event.
Other runners for Arlington included Morgan Sheppard, who finished 17th with a time of 23:28.86, and Hailey Lahr, who finished 29th with a time of 26:01.60.
Kaelyn Ulschmid was the top finisher for the Cardinals, placing second with a time of 21:28.72. Madalyn Madsen finished fifth with a time of 22:07.44, Emarie Vincent finished eighth with a time of 22:30.75, Halley Miller finished 15th with a time of 23:23.33, Gracelyn Miller finished 18th with a time of 23:39.51, Seeley VanOverbeke finished 21st with a time of 24:07.55, Ellisyn Vincent finished 24th with a time of 24:41.84, Emersyn Siebersma finished 30th with a time of 26:07.54, Kashley Goebel finished 33rd with a time of 26:44.89 and Addison Marone finished 36th with a time of 29:10.24.
Izzie Lee finished 23rd as the lone runner for the Hawks with a time of 24:36.42.
Melody Gilkerson finished in 31st place with a time of 26:12.66. Ancora Gilkerson also finished in 37th place with a time of 32:01.81.
Kyra Bowne finished 35th for the Dolphins with a time of 28:41.81.
Flandreau Indian finished in first place with 13 points, followed by Flandreau’s 20 points, Arlington’s 24 points, St. Mary’s 28 points and McCook Central/Montrose’s 47 points.
ELB’s Nate Timm won the boys race with a time of 18:12.97.
Lance Kaufman led the Cardinals with a time of 19:02.56. Dorian Kaufman finished 13th with a time of 20:09.31, Karsten Lerwick finished 21st with a time of 21:06.74, Spencer Antonen finished 32nd with a time of 23:52.15 and Grant Clelland finished 36th with a time of 25:11.01.
Logan Kontz finished seventh for the Fliers with a time of 19:35.60. Wyatt Kontz finished 10th with a time of 20:00.31, Daniel Hobbie finished 14th with a time of 20:11.06, Teague Bergjord finished 15th with a time of 20:25.30, Franklin Donis Castillo finished 17th with a time of 20:41.61, Kenton James finished 18th with a time of 20:41.85, Kaden Bursheim finished 19th with a time of 20:53.04, Brenton Westberry finished 20th with a time of 21:02.17, Sam Schmidt finished 24th with a time of 21:46.15. Nathaniel Hobbie finished 25th with a time of 21:46.57 and Benjamin Kulm finished 28th with a time of 22:23.79.
Zayd Anderson finished 26th with a time of 22:14.65.
