Fliers, Elks, Redhawks, Raiders secure football wins on Friday night

Flandreau, Elkton-Lake Benton, Estelline/Hendricks and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland each picked up victories on the gridiron on Friday night.

The Fliers beat Parker 19-6, ELB took care of Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 40-12, Estelline/Hendricks shutout Chester 30-0 and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland topped Sioux Falls Lutheran 52-20.

Flandreau 19, Parker 6

FLANDREAU — The Fliers remained unbeaten as they grinded out a victory over the Pheasants.

Paul Parsley was 10-for-18 with 70 yards and a touchdown through the air. Kody Kneebone had three catches for 26 yards and a touchdown. Luke Sheppard had two catches for 25 yards.

Flandreau had 139 rushing yards. Parsley had nine carries for 47 yards on the ground. Alex Poitra had eight carries for 27 yards and a touchdown. Ben Ballard had eight carries for 39 yards.

On defense, Parsley led the Fliers with 8.5 tackles. Sheppard had two tackles and an interception. Micah Otto had an interception as well. Justin Klein had six tackles, 0.5 sacks and one tackle for a loss. Karter Headrick had 4.5 tackles and 0.5 sacks.

Flandreau improved to 3-0 and hosts Sisseton at 7 p.m. Friday.

Elkton-Lake Benton 40, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 12

ELKTON — The Elks cruised to their third victory of the season on Friday night. ELB led 7-0 after the first quarter and then outscored FMFA 19-6 in the second to take a 26-6 lead into halftime. The Elks then had a 14-6 advantage in the second half to make the final 40-12.

ELB had 517 total yards of offense. A lot of the Elks damage was done on the ground as they racked up 348 rushing yards. Blake De Vries led the way with 142 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Quarterback Colt Beck had 138 yards and two touchdowns. Tanner Stein had 41 yards and a score and Tanner Drietz had 27 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Beck was 8-of-15 for 169 yards and a touchdown through the air. Stein had four catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Savion Stephens had three catches for 55 yards and Myles Poindexter had one catch that went for 41 yards.

De Vries, Westley and Stein each had seven tackles. Stein also had an interception and a fumble recovery. Drietz had three tackles and an interception. Teigan Krog and Beck each had six tackles and Eliot Erickson had five. Ashton Neill, Jackson Smallfield, Taiton Boersma and De Vries all had sacks.

ELB is now 3-0 and plays at De Smet on Friday at 7 p.m.

Estelline/Hendricks 30, Chester 0

ESTELLINE — The Redhawks picked up their first win of the season on Friday night.

Cooper Faehnrich got the scoring going in the first quarter as he found the end zone from two yards out to put Estelline/Hendricks up 6-0. Carson Reitz then connected with Ethan Axtell for a 14-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Reitz ran in the two-point conversion to make it 14-0 Redhawks heading into the second half.

Reitz threw his second passing touchdown of the night in the third as he found Matthew McAninch for an 11-yard score. Regan Schwartz ran in the two-point conversion to make it 22-0. Schwartz then ran in a nine-yard touchdown in the fourth and Reitz ran in the two-point conversion to make the final 30-0.

Reitz was 12-of-14 for 97 yards. Axtell had five catches for 40 yards and McAninch had three receptions for 19 yards. Wyat James had two catches for 21 yards and Schwartz had an 11-yard reception.

Faehnrich led the Redhawks with 90 yards rushing on 14 carries. Schwartz had 64 yards on 11 carries and Axtell had two carries that went for 23 yards.

Schwartz led the Redhawk defense with eight tackles. McAninch had seven tackles and Kolten Hofer had five tackles.

Estelline/Hendricks is now 1-2 and has a bye this week. The Redhawks will return to the field on Sept. 20 when they take on Waverly-South Shore on the road at 7 p.m.

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 52, Sioux Falls Lutheran 20

RUTLAND — The Raiders won their second straight game in blowout fashion on Friday.

ORR had 369 total yards of offense. Cooper Merager was 5-of-8 passing for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Brayden Hanson had two catches for 83 yards and both of the grabs were for touchdowns. Boyd Pooler had three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders had 238 rushing yards as a team. Brock Eppe led the team with 19 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. He also ran in three two-point conversions. Merager had 75 yards on 16 carries and had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Ryen Olson had two carries for 12 yards and a score. Brennan Bickett had 25 yards on the ground and also ran in a two-point conversion.

Merager led the defense with eight tackles. Brodie Albertson had six tackles and Hyde Hanson had a fumble recovery.
ORR is now 2-1 on the season and plays at Irene-Wakonda at 7 p.m. Friday.
