The Brookings Bobcats finished in 12th place as the SDHSAA Class A State Girls Tennis Tournament concluded at the Sioux Park & Parkview Tennis Complex on Friday.

Bobcats finish 12th at State Tournament

RAPID CITY – The Brookings Bobcats finished in 12th place as the SDHSAA Class A State Girls Tennis Tournament concluded at the Sioux Park & Parkview Tennis Complex on Friday.

The Bobcats finished with 26 points as four athletes finished their run in the consolation bracket.

Sophie Tanner lost to Brandon Valley’s Keer Kriech 10-5 in the consolation semifinals of Flight 1. Anika Hooda lost to Brandon Valley’s Sophia Menden 10-8 in the consolation semis of Flight 2.

Yuki Zhu lost to Sioux Falls Washington’s Zorian VanDeVendel 10-3 in Flight 3. Maya Gent lost in the consolation semifinals to Brandon Valley’s Makenna Beck 10-3 in Flight 6.

Rapid City Stevens won the team title with a score of 509 points, followed by Sioux Falls Lincoln with 366 points, Yankton with 311.5 points, Watertown with 294.5 points and Mitchell with 284 points.

Yankton’s Nora Krajewski won the individual title in Flight 1, defeating Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Eloise Geraets 7-4, 6-1.

Sylvie Mortimer of Rapid City Stevens won the Flight 2 individual title, defeating Watertown’s Leyla Meester 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.

Ella Potvin of Stevens defeated Lincoln’s Julia Hedrick 6-0, 6-0 to win the Flight 3 individual title.

Madison Marsh of Rapid City Stevens won the Flight 4 title, defeating Elly Clement of Mitchel 6-2, 6-4.

Bella Nelson of Rapid City Stevens won the Flight 5 title, defeating Mitchell’s Matteah Graves by scores of 6-1, 6-3.

Momo Welch Okawa of Sioux Falls Washington won the Flight 6 title, defeating Mitchell’s Mia Larson 6-4, 6-4.

Yankton’s Nora Krajewsi and Sabrina Krajewski won the doubles title in Flight 1, defeating O’Gorman’s Ellie Huber and Lucy Koziara 6-2, 6-3.

Arabella Scott and Elena Braun of Rapid City Stevens won the doubles title in Flight 2, defeating Aberdeen Central’s Reese Comstock and Chloe Ladner 7-6, 6-3.

Madison Marsh and Bella Nelson of Rapid City Stevens won the doubles title in Flight 3, defeating Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Lily Statema and Welch Okawa 4-6, 6-1, 10-1.
