Estelline/Hendricks girls qualify for State, seven other area golfers qualify

The Estelline/Hendricks girls’ golf team qualified for the State Tournament on Monday afternoon after coming in second place at the Region 2B Golf Tournament at Rocky Run Golf Course.

Estelline/Hendricks girls qualify for State, seven other area golfers qualify

DELL RAPIDS — The Estelline/Hendricks girls’ golf team qualified for the State Tournament on Monday afternoon after coming in second place at the Region 2B Golf Tournament at Rocky Run Golf Course.

The Redhawks shot 288 as a team, which was 14 shots back of region champion Chester. Alya Texley led the Redhawks and won the individual tournament with a score of 84. Sadie Johnson came in eighth place (98) and Lita Fryer finished in 16th (106). Rachel Hexum was the final competitor for the Redhawks and she came in 23rd (113).

Deubrook Area had two girls qualify for State and the Dolphins came fourth place (303). Brynnlee Hanson finished in fifth (94) and Brooklyn Gladis came in 10th (99). Maddie Schulte and Ava Crooks came in 19th (109) and 20th (109), respectively.

Arlington came in sixth place and did not have anyone qualify for State. Jada Henriksen and Elli Vincent came in 28th (126) and 29th (128), respectively. Dakota Flanery finished in 34th (138) and Jordan Spilde came in 36th (151).

Colman-Egan did not have a team score as the Hawks only had two golfers compete. Neither of them qualified for State as Savanna Schmidt and Mauryn Landis finished in 21st (110) and 22nd (112), respectively.

Boys

No area team qualified for State but Deubrook finished in fifth place with a team score of 266. Gavin Landmark was the lone Dolphin who qualified as he came in second with a score of 75. Connor Andrews came in 27th (95) and Ty Landmark and Austin Kjelden finished in 29th (96) and 30th (96), respectively.

Colman-Egan came in seventh (271) and had one golfer qualify for State as Taylor Kriech came in sixth (79). Jack Whitehouse came in 25th (91) and Holdyn Rentschler came in 36th (101).

Elkton-Lake Benton came in eighth (280). The lone State qualifier for the Elks was Tanner Drietz and he came in 20th (89). Lane Schindler finished in 26th (92) and Colt Beck came in 33rd (99). Eliot Erickson came in 35th (101).

Arlington came in 10th (283) and had one State qualifier as Spencer Heflin came in 17th (88). Bryce Heflin came in 24th (90), Aden Bunker came in 40th (105) and Andrew Tawzer finished in 42nd (110).

Estelline/Hendricks came in 11th (309) and its only State qualifier was Cade Hexum who finished 16th (88). Mavick Siverson came in 39th (105) and Atticus Eyjolfson came in 43rd (116). James Lesher rounded things out for the Redhawks, coming in 45th (119).

Both Oldham-Ramona-Rutland and Iroquois/Lake Preston did not have a State qualifier as the two schools finished in 12th (329) and 13th (341), respectively. For the Raiders, Brodie Albertson came in 37th (103), Easton Ruml came in 41st (108) and Hyde Hanson came in 44th (118). For the Sharks, Ben Curd came in 32nd (99) and Lorick Pirlet came in 46th (120). Tanner Steffensen came in 47th (122) and Rowdy Scheel came in 49th (135).
